Cantante Taylor Swift fue la gran ganadora de los Billboard 2015

Una nueva entrega de los Premios Billboard tuvo lugar esta noche en el MGM Grand Garden Arena de Las Vegas, ceremonia donde la cantante estadounidense Taylor Swift se coronó como la gran ganadora.

La ceremonia partió con el estreno mundial del video "Bad blood" de Swift, para luego dar paso a la apertura oficial con la banda Van Halen. El cierre de la gala, en tanto, estuvo a cargo del rapero Kanye West, cuya interpretación de su sencillo "All Day" se escuchó entrecortada por la censura de ABC al lenguaje explícito utilizado por el artista durante gran parte del tema, además fue criticada porque la puesta en escena no permitía ver con claridad al cantante.

El primer premio de la noche recayó en la banda británica One Directión, quienes ganaron en la categoría Mejor Banda y dedicaron el premio a Zayn Malik, que dejó la agrupación en marzo pasado. El ahora cuarteto también se alzó ganador en Mejor Tour del Año, el mismo que los trajo a Chile en 2014.

Sam Smith fue reconocido como Mejor Artista Masculino, Mejor Nuevo Artista, así como el cantante con más éxito en las radios, a pesar de no estar presente en la ceremonia por encontrarse en Nueva York, tras haberse operado hace pocos días de las cuerdas vocales. 

Pharrell Williams se quedó con los premios en las categorías de R&B donde "Happy" fue Mejor Canción, su disco "Girl" Mejor Álbum y él mismo fue elegido Mejor Artista.

Taylor Swift subió al escenario para recoger galardones como el de Mejor Artista del Año - donde compitió con Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, One Direction y Sam Smith-, Mejor Artista Femenina, Mejor Álbum Ranking 200 por su disco "1989" y Mejor Desempeño en los Listados Billboard, mientras que Meghan Trainor ganó el de Mejor Canción Ranking Hot 100 por su tema "All about that bass".

El recientemente fallecido B.B. King, el rey del blues, tuvo un breve pero sentido homenaje en la ceremonia. El tributo fue protagonizado por su guitarra Lucille sobre el escenario. La banda Imagine Dragons, en tanto, tributó a Ben E. King con su propia versión de "Stand by me".

El evento musical también contó con las presentacions de Mariah Carey, Wiz Khalifa y Charlie Puth, quienes interpretaron "See you again", canción para el fallecido Paul Walker, y Ed Sheeran, además de una de las actuaciones más esperadas de la noche: La de Britney Spears junto a Iggy Azalea, interpretando el single "Pretty girls".

La conducción estuvo a cargo del actor y rapero Ludacris, junto a la top model y conductora Chrissy Teigen.
