Botafogo derrotó 2-0 a San Lorenzo de Almagro en el compromiso que abrió la fase grupal de la Copa Libertadores, jugado en el Estadio Maracaná, sacando ventaja en la serie que comparten junto a Unión Española.

El "fogao" logró el triunfo con las certeras anotaciones de Juan Carlos Ferreyra, a los 30', y de Wallyson, en los 52', las que fueron suficientes para adjudicarse el pleito frente a un elenco argentino que mostró poca pulcritud en el juego.

Con la victoria, Botafogo se ubicó en el primer lugar del Grupo 2 relegando a San Lorenzo al fondo. Unión Española debutará el próximo martes, a las 23:30 horas (02:30 GMT) ante Independiente del Valle, en Ecuador.
